Community comes first

At the heart of Makers are people. Those who learn with us. Those who work with us. And those who we call our colleagues. Our focus is on empowering and enabling each other and making a difference.

What makes us different?

If you’re thinking of launching a career in tech, it’s important that you know what makes us different from other providers. As we continue to grow, our community celebrates the following ideas.

Never stop learning

We challenge the assumption that you’re supposed to do what you’re told even if it doesn’t make sense. We want everyone in the Makers community to constantly be learning: this idea is at the core of our program.

Love what you do

If you’re not doing what you love, you’re wasting time. Work fills a huge part of our time and it should be something that gives you energy. We don’t just help people to find careers they love – we live that ourselves.

People first

We know that the best projects and businesses are built by great teams – not great individuals operating independently of one another. This means learning how to communicate and putting people first.

Mindset over education

The problem with mainstream education is that it doesn’t train people to be ready for the 21st century world of work, where nobody is telling you what to do. New ways of working mean new ways of learning.

Health is wealth

Mental health and physical health are key to a thriving career and happy life. We believe in helping everyone to become their best self and empower their ability to speak up if something isn’t working for them and listen to those that need help. We embrace healthy work habits and staying balanced.

Inclusivity

We are passionate about making the technology industry more inclusive and accessible to all. Tomorrow technology needs to be created by teams that represent the communities it serves. We don’t just speak out about diversity; we walk the walk as well.

In the press

We challenge the traditional educational routes into tech and strive to break the gender bias within the industry.

“As London’s leading software development bootcamp, Makers Academy students learn how to code in 16 weeks and are set up with all the skills needed to become a developer and secure a job at the end of the course.”

“One of the best things about Makers Academy is the fact that what I’ve learnt is not just restricted to the code; the teaching here is rather holistic in that sense.”
