Welcome to Taster Tuesdays, where our very own Makers coaches will give you a taste of what it’s like to learn to code at Makers. We have recently began workshops with our partner The Edge Hub in Hull. These workshops are free to attend. If you’re a beginner then we recommended attending each one to build your coding skills.

Time of 1st session: 12:30 – 2 pm
Time of 2nd session: 5:30 – 7pm

As our approach is tailored to people with no previous experience in coding. Our expert and super-friendly coaches will walk you through basic programming and computing concepts you’ll build on as you learn to code.
In this workshop we will use Javascript to write some letters, words, and sentences on the screen in your own handwriting. Perhaps simple for you — but teaching a computer to do it takes some work!
For beginners, we will use this exercise to cover the fundamentals of programming using statements and expressions, while paving the way for more advanced topics like functions and control flow.
For those of you who are interested in more of a challenge, you will be able to take on challenging extension exercises involving complex data analysis and even machine learning.
But you don’t need any experience to join this workshop. Come along and see if you like it!
You’ll need to bring a laptop along with you and have a web browser to run the program in such as Chrome or Firefox. Please arrive at The Edge Hub (Myton St, Hull HU1 2PS) 10 minutes before your chosen session begins.
